| Exerpt from Davis Cup brings tennis fans from all over February 8, 2003 By Amy Sullivan a.sullivan@theday.com |
| Also in the crowd was another group of supporters who have followed Bob and Mike Bryan all over the country. Self-proclaimed "biggest fans," sisters Amber Vanderzalm and Tiffany Reuschel, along with their parents, Don and Barb Reuschel, came all the way from Holland, Mich., to cheer on their two favorite players. Tiffany Reuschel said she spotted the twins when they were about 15 years old and playing in a tournament, and immediately recognized their talent. "I watched them play, and I told my dad, 'They are going to be No. 1,'" she said. Reuschel has followed the two closely ever since, and couldn't be happier now that they have fulfilled her prophecy. Reuschel and Vanderzalm run the official fan Web site for the twin tennis stars, and advertise their support with neon green "Bryan's Bunch" T-shirts. Their support has not gone unnoticed. "Those girls help us out a lot actually," Bob Bryan said of the sisters. "They keep all of our fans updated with the Web site." Bryan also said the neon green might just have the power of luck. "They gave us these little green Care Bears, and they said they were good luck charms," Bryan said. "We went on to win 18 of 19 matches with these little green bears. It's great." |
